A couple years back, Todd Hepp was doing some work up in Alaska for a few weeks, so I
took a two-week vacation to go visit him there. By far, the coolest place I have
ever been (no, this is not a pun about the weather). Although I missed the lush
greenery of the country there (Anchorage got its first snow of the season - in
record-breaking fashion - the morning after I arrived), it is an absolutely gorgeous
place. To say the very least - we had a blast.

As we drove up from Anchorage towards Denali (the national park
surrounding Mt. McKinley), Hepp and I stopped and took a plane ride over the mountain
range in this tiny little three-seater.
|

This is a picture from the plane as we flew over the Alaska mountains,
which surround the south face of McKinley. It is a bear circling the carcass of a
moose. He was not too happy that we were interrupting his meal - he kept standing up
and swiping his paws at the air as we passed. You can make out the outline of the
moose's body if you look closely.

HHHEEEEPPPP!
We decided it would be fun to camp out up in Denali in sub-zero temps.
This picture shows Hepp holding our tool for keeping warm in the tent.

Mush!Mush! While Hepp was working one day I did some dog-sledding
along the Iditerod trail.
|

Hepp and I met a guy in a bar one night (go figure), who's ex-wife just
happened to run a horse riding ranch. So, although all of the ranches were closed
for the season, I got to do some good riding through the snow.
